Get Boundless Energy

by Raymond Francis, http://www.beyondhealth.com/

Can you get boundless energy by taking a single supplement?

Of course not! You need to be doing all the things I've talked about in Never Be Sick Again or Never Be Fat Again. A good diet, eliminating or greatly reducing toxins, a comprehensive supplement program, exercise, good sleep, good attitude, etc.

But if you're already proactive about your health and still don't have the energy you'd like, try including CoQ10 in your supplement program. Or if it's already a part of your program, try taking more.

CoQ10 is a vitamin-like molecule made by the body and used by each one of our trillions of cells to create energy. In fact, energy cannot be made without it. As we age, we make less and less, so that by age 80, most of us make about half of what we made at age 20. And factors like extreme physical exertion, stress, toxicity, hormone imbalances, certain drugs, and lack of nutrients can deplete it further.

People with specific health challenges like cancer, diabetes, heart disease, allergic asthma, migraines, neurological diseases like Parkinson's and Alzheimer's, periodontal disease and tinnitus are all apt to be low on CoQ10. Whether this is a cause or a result of these diseases, restoring optimal levels of CoQ10 has helped to alleviate symptoms and even cure them.

Just as an experiment, I have tried doing without my CoQ10 several times. This experiment doesn't last very long! I rapidly discover that CoQ10 makes a clear and obvious difference in my energy levels, and I need high energy to put in the 16-hour plus days I generally work. I could not keep up my usual pace without CoQ10.

So I strongly suggest you give it a try, and even if CoQ10 is already in your supplement program, if you're lacking in energy, try taking more. I've suggested doubling CoQ10 intake to a number of people who were already taking anywhere from 100 to 180 mg per day but still feeling fatigued. Most of the time, this has made a significant improvement in their energy levels.

I talk a lot about cells -- about how the one cause of disease is malfunctioning cells, and how we can cure any disease by restoring healthy function to our cells

Every one of our cells contains energy factories called mitochondria. If we're going to be healthy, all our mitochondria have to be operating at peak efficiency, feeding us a constant supply of energy. CoQ10 helps them do just that.

The mitochondria are like the cylinders in a car, where gasoline and oxygen combine to create combustion, the force that moves the pistons. CoQ10 is like the spark plug that provides the spark for the engine's ignition.

If CoQ10 levels drop 25% below normal, cells begin to die. This means muscles weaken, and nowhere is this more dangerous than in our heart muscle.

Deficiencies of CoQ10 have been found in all kinds of cardiovascular diseases, and supplementation with CoQ10 has often led to dramatic improvements . . . a patient told he would die without a pacemaker began taking CoQ10 and didn't need the pacemaker anymore . . . CoQ10 supplementation has led to reductions in blood pressure, triglycerides, angina, and arrhythmias. It has improved exercise tolerance, and has been especially successful in treating congestive heart failure.

Anyone dealing with heart disease should be taking a good amount of CoQ10 -- 200 to 300 mg a day is not uncommon, and sometimes more.

It is especially important for anyone taking statin drugs (for cholesterol) to supplement with CoQ10 because these drugs interfere with an enzyme that's needed to produce both cholesterol and CoQ10.

At very high doses, CoQ10 may have anti-coagulant effects, so if you are taking Coumadin, it is important to have your physician monitor this.

CoQ10 is also an Antioxidant . . . preventing cancer and aging
As the mitochondria oxidize food to create energy, free radicals are produced that can damage DNA (leading to cancer), as well as damage body fat and proteins, leading to aging and all kinds of disease.

Fortunately, CoQ10 is a very powerful antioxidant. It sits in cell and mitochondrial membranes along with Vitamin E. Together, they form an effective partnership to prevent free radical oxidation.

Some remarkable research has been done using CoQ10 to treat breast cancer. In additional to conventional treatment and surgery, a group of women was given 90 mg of CoQ10 a day, along with other nutrients, and in about 20% of them there was partial tumor regression.

But the really interesting results began when one woman took it upon herself to increase her dosage to 390 mg a day. In two months her tumor had disappeared. After her success, another woman decided to increase her daily dose to 300 mg. Her tumor also disappeared as well as distant metastases.

What accounts for these results? Increasing antioxidant status, no doubt, was a factor. However it is also known that CoQ10 boosts immunity, probably by increasing cellular energy.

CoQ10 Confusion

. . . which form is really the best?
As news of CoQ10's potential to treat and reverse disease has gotten around,
everyone seems to be hopping on the bandwagon to manufacture an enormous array of CoQ10 products.

Most of the manufacturers claim that their CoQ10 is anywhere from 2 to 4 times more effective/absorbable "than regular CoQ10." Here is an example. I just got an email advertising a form of CoQ10 called "ubiquinol." The ad said the their ubiquinol CoQ10 absorbs up to 8 times better than conventional CoQ10. This is a true statement, but it is still not what you want to buy. This claim is bogus and misleading because the comparison is being made against forms of CoQ10 that we know don't work! Of course theirs is better by comparison! The problem is it is possible to make something far better, so their's is not so good after all.

Some CoQ10 products are in powder form. These are not well absorbed. Others are dissolved in oil. This is a better approach. Other products have been micellized (emulsified). This approach is still better, but then there are different ways to micellize, some better than others.
Here is the bottom line. You need to start out with a very pure CoQ10. It needs to be mixed with the right oil for maximum absorption, micellized in the right way and energized with co-factors that help it get absorbed not only into the bloodstream, but by the cells and by the mitochondria within the cells.

How to Stop Using Toxic Baby Products

picture from soapchix

Most new mothers don't realize that the "popular" baby bath products and diaper ointments contain many toxic substances - even cancer-causing chemicals!

Here's a report that explains the dangers:

New Report: No More Toxic Tub

Getting Contaminants Out of Children's Bath & Personal Care Products

by the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics

Despite marketing claims like “gentle” and “pure,” dozens of top-selling children’s bath products are contaminated with the cancer-causing chemicals formaldehyde and 1,4-dioxane, according to the March 2009 Campaign for Safe Cosmetics report, "No More Toxic Tub."

This study is the first to document the widespread presence of both formaldehyde and 1,4-dioxane in bath products for children, including baby shampoos, bubble baths and baby lotions. Many products tested contained both chemicals.

Formaldehyde and 1,4-dioxane are known carcinogens; formaldehyde can also trigger skin rashes in some children. Unlike many other countries, the U.S. government does not limit formaldehyde, 1,4-dioxane, or most other hazardous substances in personal care products.

  • Baby Magic “Soft Baby Scent” Baby Lotion (Ascendia Brands, Inc) Formaldehyde (610 ppm)
  • Aveeno Baby Soothing Relief Creamy Wash 1,4-dioxane (4.6 ppm)
  • Johnson’s Baby Shampoo 1,4-dioxand (1.1ppm) Formaldehyde (210ppm)

What You Can Do Avoid using products that list ingredients that may be contaminated with 1,4-dioxane, including sodium myreth sulfate, PEG compounds and chemicals that include the clauses "xynol," "ceteareth" and "oleth." Similarly, avoid products that contain formaldehye-releasing preservatives, including quaternium-15, DMDM hydantoin, imidazolidinyl urea and diazolidinyl urea. To search for products without these marker chemicals, use the advanced search in EWG's Skin Deep database and check the "Contamination concerns" box.

Safe Products:

Use the advanced search feature at Safe Cosmetics to find safe products for your baby,

You can also visit Whole foods - but you will need to read labels and check ingredients!!

If you do nothing else, pitch the bad stuff and use Burt's Bees (buy at Wal-Mart) while you research.

Burt's Bees isn't perfect, but it is ALOT better that the Johnson's products.

From SoapChix: “Are parabens and phthalates in my kids shampoo? Are they the same thing, or different? How can I find out, and what’s the big deal anyway?” We’ve been getting lots of emails about this. And, to make this topic less technical, I’m adding pictures.

Coconut Oil

How virgin coconut oil is processed is the key to optimizing its taste, texture, color, and aroma. Within two hours of Nutiva's coconuts being chopped, the virgin coconut oil is cold-pressed. Contrast this with 99 percent of the coconut oil used today in cooking and body care.

First, the coconut is chopped and left to dry in the sun for days. Then the meat is scooped out and sent thousands of miles to giant oil mills where the oxidizing coco meat is refined, bleached, and/or deodorized. Ironically, this product is often labeled as "certified organic.”

There is no comparison

Coconut oil is about 50 percent lauric acid, a rare medium-chain fatty acid found in mother's milk that supports healthy metabolism and is now being studied for its anti-fungal, anti-viral, and anti-bacterial health-protecting properties.
Overall, coconut oil contains 92% saturated fats, and only 1% Omega-6, the fat Americans get way too much of.
More Info on Coconut Oil Benefits <---- see the article on coconut oil and cholesterol,
Mary Enig writes, "The public has been led to believe that tropicals will clog your arteries and cause heart disease. In fact, the opposite is true; natural tropical oils will help prevent hardening of the arteries while most liquid vegetable oils will increase hardening of the arteries! In a phone call to Mary Enig in April, 1997, she told me that the worst oil to use for any purpose is Canola oil."
***
I use Nutiva unrefined, organic, cold pressed. Buy it in 54oz size and pour or scoop into a smaller jar for ease of use. Inexpensive buy from www.iherb.com and use coupon code RIN569 for $5 off your first order (total should be about $21 incuding s/h).

Ingredients in Big Read Gum are TOXIC!

They are trying to kill us...one stick of gum at a time.

INGREDIENTS in Big Red Gum: SUGAR, GUM BASE, CORN SYRUP, NATURAL AND ARTIFICIAL FLAVORS; LESS THAN 2% OF: GLYCEROL, ASPARTAME-ACESULFAME*, GUM ARABIC**, SOY LECITHIN***, MANNITOL, HYDROXYLATED SOY LECITHIN, ACESULFAME K, COLORS (RED 40 LAKE, BLUE 1 LAKE), SUCRALOSE, BHT (TO MAINTAIN FRESHNESS). PHENYLKETONURICS: CONTAINS PHENYLALANINE.

First of all there are 5 Sugars/artificial sweeteners: Sugar, Corn Syrup, Mannitol, sucralose, aspartame-acesulfame

*ASPARTAME-ACESULFAME It is produced by soaking a 2-1 mixture of aspartame and acesulfame potassium in an acidic solution and allowing it to crystallize;
Acesulfame - apparently produced lung tumors, breast tumors, rare types of tumors of other organs (such as the thymus gland), several forms of leukemia and chronic respiratory disease in several rodent studies, even when less than maximum doses were given.

According to the Center for Science in the Public Interest, it was petitioned on August 29, l988 for a stay of approval by the FDA because of "significant doubt" about its safety.
... acetoacetamide, a breakdown product, has been shown to affect the thyroid in rats, rabbits, and dogs. Administration of 1% and 5% acetoacetamide in the diet for three months caused benign thyroid tumors in rats. The rapid appearance of tumors raises serious questions about the chemicalÕs carcinogenic potency."

**Gum arabic is a complex mixture of saccharides and glycoproteins, which gives it its most useful property. While historically used for printing, paint production, glue, and industrial applications, it continues to be used as an ingredient in foodstuffs.
***Soybean lecithin comes from sludge left after crude soy oil goes through a "degumming" process. It is a waste product containing solvents and pesticides and has a consistency ranging from a gummy fluid to a plastic solid. Before being bleached to a more appealing light yellow, the color of lecithin ranges from a dirty tan to reddish brown. The hexane extraction process commonly used in soybean oil manufacture today yields less lecithin than the older ethanol-benzol process, but produces a more marketable lecithin with better color, reduced odor and less bitter flavor.
++Food dye- affects neurological process.

Natural and Artificial Flavors is a hidden name for MSG/glutamate

Food substances that can impair brain function:
MSG
Nitrates
Aspartame
Refined sugar (excess)
Caffeine
Alcohol
Certain food dyes (e.g. red dye #40)
Food substances that can enhance or repair brain function
Vitamins (in particular B vitamins).
Minerals (e.g. magnesium and zinc).
Antioxidants (very important for brain protection).
Amino acids (they are the building blocks for proteins including several brain chemicals).
Essential fatty acids (e.g. omega 3, DHA...these can help with mood and other brain function)
Ginkgo (can help with brain circulation and memory)

Splenda/Sucralose "chlorocarbons are never nutritionally compatible with our metabolic processes and are wholly incompatible with normal human metabolic functioning. Any chlorocarbons not directly excreted from the body intact can cause immense damage to the processes of human metabolism and, eventually, our internal organs."

The liver is a detoxification organ, which deals with ingested poisons and over time gets damaged beyond repair with such artificial chemicals.

BHT
may react with other ingested substances to cause the formation of carcinogens. BHT is banned in England.

Phenylalanine
"Since phenylalanine can be neurotoxic and can affect the synthesis of inhibitory monoamine neurotransmitters, the phenylalanine in aspartame could conceiveably mediate neurologic effects."

How to Treat Chronic Urinary Tract Infections

Dr Mercola provides the following on his website, http://www.mercola.com/

...the active ingredient found in cranberries called mannose should also be considered. In the past, mannose has been difficult to obtain due to costs and manufacturing capabilities. The pure, high-quality form has just recently become commercially available as a natural supplement, and now I can finally offer it to you!
ClearTract D-Mannose is not a drug. This nutritional supplement occurs naturally in peaches, apples, and berries. D-mannose is a rare saccharide found in some plant and food substances -- and we even produce it in our own bodies. Non-toxic and safe, ClearTract D-Mannose:
Supports a healthy urinary tract
Is 10- 50 times stronger than cranberry!
Produces rapid action in as little as 24-48 hours
Does not kill friendly bacteria
Is safe for long term use -- neutral pH
Is 100% all natural D-Mannose and nothing else

Is the strongest natural urinary tract product available
The mannose actually adheres to the receptors on the lining of the bladder that attach to the bacteria. This forces the bacteria to slide right off and into the toilet. It is amazingly effective, but you must remember it is only a Band-Aid, though a far safer one than prophylactic antibiotic use or cranberry juice.
It has been my observation that one of the most frequent causes of UTIs is less than careful hygiene after one develops loose stools or diarrhea. It is very easy to contaminate your fingers when wiping yourself with toilet paper, and if those contaminated fingers come anywhere close to the opening of the urethra, there is a high likelihood of infection in predisposed individuals.
By paying close attention to this hygiene matter you can dramatically reduce your risk of developing future infections.
Another simple yet useful practical hint I have learned is to avoid using colored toilet paper. Restrict your use to white unscented toilet paper only. It has been my experience that many women can react to the dyes and chemicals in the colored or fragranced toilet papers. Unbleached toilet paper would be even better to reduce any possible chlorine exposure and to help reduce the environmental contamination that comes from the bleaching process.
In addition, drinking enough water is extremely important to staying healthy and infection-free. I used to advise that people follow a refined rule of thumb: For every 50 pounds of body weight you carry, drink one quart of spring or filtered water per day -- this would increase daily water intake to 12 to 16 glasses for most of us. However, I further refined my recommendations to use the color of your urine as a guide to how much water you should be drinking. As long as you are not taking riboflavin (vitamin B2), which fluoresces and turns your urine bright yellow (it is also in most multi-vitamins), then your urine should be a very light-colored yellow. If it is a deep yellow then you are likely not drinking enough water and need to up your consumption.
Lastly, blueberries can be a valuable dietary aid in preventing urinary tract infections. To learn more on this topic, please review a study I recently posted on how blueberries contain similar compounds as cranberries and can be used to treat urinary tract infections. For your convenience, we carry delicious Wild Blueberry IQ Softgel Capsules in our store that are made from whole fresh blueberries -- and contain 40 mg of potent disease-fighting anthocyanins per capsule, more than any other available supplement!

Alternative to Chlorine Bleach

The new oxygen-based cleaners work even better than sodium hexametaphosphate.
Oxiclean is available on-line and is sold in many stores.

Oxiboost by Natural Choices
Natural Choices Home Safe products has a full line of cleaning products based on the power of oxygen bleach that contain a higher percentage of active ingredients than the brand-name products.

Research on oxygen bleaches

Oxygen bleaches work by releasing oxygen. Hydrogen peroxide is the active ingredient. Either it is used as an ingredient, or it is released as the product of the reaction of another ingredient when combined with water.
Since hydrogen peroxide is the active ingredient in all these products, you could also just use drugstore-variety hydrogen peroxide as a laundry bleach.

Dilute it in a pint of water before adding it to your laundry, so you don't get white spots on your clothes. Experiment with different concentrations in different amounts to find the level of whitening you need.

Oxygen bleaches often contain sodium carbonate peroxide also called sodium percarbonate, sodium peroxide, or sodium perborate, all of which are made by reacting molecules with hydrogen peroxide. When these the hydrogen peroxide is released. Naturally-occuring borax also releases hydrogen peroxide into the water.
Like chlorine bleach, hydrogen peroxide does have an antiseptic action. It is commonly used as a topical antiseptic in dilute solutions, and as a water purifier in stronger solutions.

In the environment, hydrogen peroxide breaks down into harmless water and oxygen.

"All-fabric" bleaches are oxygen-based, whether or not they have "oxy-" in their name. Often these all-fabric bleaches contain fragrances, so it's best to stay with the unscented "oxy-" products.
Here's what The Soap and Detergent Association has to say about oxygen bleaches:
Oxygen Bleach all-fabric bleach
Oxygen bleaches are available in both a dry and liquid form.

All dry oxygen bleaches contain inorganic peroxygen compounds, such as sodium perborate tetrahydrate and sodium percarbonate.
When dissolved, the inorganic peroxygen compounds convert to hydrogen peroxide the oxidizing agent and the residue of the compound e.g., sodium borate or carbonate.
Liquid oxygen bleaches contain hydrogen peroxide, which supplies the oxidizing agent directly.
The hydrogen peroxide reacts with the soil and organic materials in the wash to either decolorize or break them up.
Hydrogen peroxide provides a more gentle bleaching action than sodium hypochlorite used in chlorine bleaches.
Water temperature affects the bleaching rate of oxygen bleaches. Hot water accelerates the bleaching action.

As water temperature decreases below 130 degrees F, exposure time must be increased substantially.
Powdered oxygen bleaches also contain a builder, usually sodium carbonate, which provides additional alkalinity and allows the perborate to function more effectively as a bleach. Other ingredients--such as surfactants, brighteners, bluing agents and fragrance-- can be incorporated into both liquid and powdered formulations.

Enzymes are used in powdered bleaches. How to Use Oxygen Bleach: Read and follow bleach package directions. Use a standard measuring spoon or cup and measure the recommended amount. Add oxygen bleach to the wash water before clothes are added. Do not pour oxygen bleaches directly on wet colored fabrics without testing for colorfastness first.

Oxygen bleach is safe for most colored washable fabrics. However, if the care label states "No Bleach," do not use any bleach _ not even an oxygen bleach.

To determine if a color is bleach safe, mix 1 teaspoon 5 ml dry oxygen bleach to 1 cup 240 ml hot water or follow instructions on the package. Place a few drops of test solution or undiluted liquid oxygen bleach on an inconspicuous portion of fabric for the time designated on the package. If color does not bleed or there is no color change, oxygen bleach may be used.

More research on oxygen bleach.

boost the immune system.
It has anti-viral and anti-allergic effects and is a natural antihistamine.

Why makes Nutrex-Hawaii Spirulina Pacifica superior?
We sell Spirulina Pacifica, a superior form of spirulina.
You might find cheaper spirulina products, but the quality is inferior to that of Spirulina Pacifica.

"Best Spirulina: When you buy spirulina or products made with spirulina (one of my top recommended superfoods), make sure it's Spirulina Pacifica harvested from the waters of Kona, Hawaii, by a company called Cyanotech.

This company farms the most nutritionally potent spirulina in the world. And thanks to the deep-sea waters off the coast of Hawaii, this spirulina is free of contaminants found in many other coastal waters of the world. When you buy spirulina, make sure it's from Hawaii.”We sell the Spirulina Pacifica produced by Cyanotech, the exact product recommended by Mike Adams (a.k.a. The Health Ranger.)

What makes Nutrex-Hawaii Spirulina the Most Nutritious Superfood?
Spirulina is nature's most nutritious, concentrated superfood.

A three-gram serving provides more antioxidant activity than five servings of fruits and vegetables.Consider these nutritional facts:
Spirulina has 2300% more iron than spinach
Spirulina has 3900% more beta-carotene than carrots
Spirulina has 300% more calcium than whole milk
Spirulina has 375% more protein than tofu

Carbon Monoxide Treated Meat

- By JIM ABRAMS, Associated Press Writer
Tuesday, February 21, 2006
(02-21) 18:33 PST WASHINGTON, (AP) --

Shoppers who judge the freshness of meat by its pink color may be deceived by a relatively new industry practice of treating meat with carbon monoxide, critics say.
The meat industry defends the use of carbon monoxide to help meat retain its pink hue, saying large sums of money are wasted when sellers throw away meat that is still safe to eat but is not as attractive because it is slightly brown.
"Color is the number one indicator that's used" in selecting meat, said Don Berdahl, vice president of Kalsec Inc., a maker of natural food extracts in Kalamazoo, Mich. Last November Kalsec filed a petition with the Food and Drug Administration seeking a ban on the use of carbon monoxide in meat packaging.

Berdahl said Tuesday that
  • carbon monoxide-treated meat could be left on the kitchen counter for five days and would still look bright red and fresh.
  • Carbon monoxide "also suppresses bad odors and the presence of slime, other telltale signs that meat is spoiled," Kalsec's petition said.
    The petition said
  • treated meat could hide the growth of pathogens such as Clostridium botulinum, Salmonella and E. coli.
Berdahl acknowledged that his company has a business interest in protesting the practice. But consumer groups, while agreeing that carbon monoxide in itself is not a health risk, are concerned that meat buyers will focus on the color and ignore expiration dates and other signs that meat is no longer edible.
  • "Carbon monoxide masks the natural coloration of meat by reacting with myoglobin in the meat and producing a bright red color," the Consumer Federation of America and the group Safe Tables Our Priority wrote last month in asking the FDA to reverse its acceptance of the practice.
  • The artificial color, they said, "has been found to last 'beyond the time of spoilage,' thus masking the true color and freshness of meat packaged with carbon monoxide."

The Kalsec petition also argued that the FDA does not have the legal authority to permit the use of carbon monoxide in fresh meat packaging because it is an unapproved and prohibited color additive. Carbon monoxide is used in some "case-ready" meats, products put in leak-proof, tamperproof, hermetically sealed packages before being shipped to the local butcher or supermarket.

Olive Oil Fraud

Is it true that most of the olive oil sold in the United States isn't really olive oil but something else passed off as "extra-virgin?"

According to Dr. Andrew Weil, it is!
Here's what he says in his Q&A (Published 04/18/2006)
Unfortunately, it appears to be true. As you know, I recommend olive oil as the best all-purpose oil, not only for salads but for most cooking needs as well. The monounsaturated fat in olive oil appears to be protective against heart disease, some cancers, and other chronic diseases while saturated fats such as butter and other animal fats and polyunsaturated vegetable oils are associated with increased health risks. (Omega-3 fatty acids from wild salmon and other types of cold water fish also are beneficial to health.)

In Europe, olive oil must pass rigid taste and chemical tests to be ranked as extra-virgin and must be less than two years old. The age of extra-virgin olive oil is rarely stated on the labels of olive oil sold in the United States.

Most of the olive oil sold in the United States is imported from Italy or Spain.

While some Italian and Spanish olive oils are of very high quality, many products sold in the United States as "extra-virgin" may be a lesser grade of olive oil and some may be primarily canola or hazelnut oil to which a small amount of olive oil has been added for color and taste.

Some olive oil we get here may come from pomace, the olive pulp left after pressing out the oil. Additional oil can be extracted from pomace by treating it with hexane, a chemical solvent - not a good practice.

Even when the bottle contains genuine olive oil, it may not be from Italy or Spain as the labels suggest - both countries import huge quantities of cheaper olive oils from Tunisia, Turkey, Morocco or Libya, bottle them and label them "imported from" Italy or Spain. This is deceptive marketing.

Andrew Weil, MD says, "I suggest that you buy small bottles from a reputable company or source. Look for the yellow-green color and deep olive flavor that indicates high quality products. Certification as organic can also be a sign of quality. If you can find imported oils with IOOC certification on the label, go for them. (The California Olive Olive Oil Council [COOC] certifies purity of oil produced in California.)"

The Solution

What consumers need to know and look for in an olive oil to keep from being cheated

1. Only first cold pressed extra virgin olive oil has health benefits.

When you purchase "pure", "pomace", or "lite" olive oil you are getting no health benefits from your olive oil.

To quote Stan Bacler, an "olive oil detective" for the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, "if the price you're paying for extra virgin olive oil seems too good to be true, it likely is."

2. Never purchase olive oil sold in plastic bottles.

Olive oil reacts with the plastic, contaminating your olive oil with unhealthy PVC's.

Plastic bottles are not provided for your health or safety, only to increase corporate profits. Purchase only glass bottles.

Large quantities of olive oil should be sold in dark glass bottles or in food grade cans to avoid oxidation of the olive oil by sunlight.

3. Purchase olive oil pressed from handpicked olives only.

Olives should be handpicked and pressed immediately.

Large estates reduce the cost of picking by using mechanical pickers.

The olives fall to the ground getting bruised in the process. This leads to fermentation and spoiling of the olive. Often mechanically picked olives lie on the ground for a day or two in the hot sun before being gathered and pressed. When olives are handpicked the traditional way, the olives are not bruised and only the ones ready for pressing are taken to the press.

4. Never purchase factory produced or estate bottled olive oils.

That means "stay away from the big corporate brands" of olive oil that you see in every market. Your olive oil should be from small family farms not from factories.

The reason lies in the way the olive is pressed. The traditional olive press is the large round grinding stone.

This has been improved upon by a hydraulic press with fine pressure controls without any sacrifice in olive oil quality. The main problem in large factories is that to produce great quantities of olive oil in the shortest time possible they have gone to mechanical extraction machines using a continuous centrifuge system.

Hot water is continually sprayed into the centrifuge to help separate out the oil.

Many of the health benefits of olive oil result from the high quantities of antioxidants found in olive oil.

These antioxidants are soluble in water and are washed away in this hot water process. Therefore factory produced olive oil does not contain all the nutrients and health benefits and it has a drastically shorter shelf life of only a few months.

Pineapple &

the following is from http://www.naturalnews.com/

Pineapple is a remarkable fruit.

We find it enjoyable because of its lush, sweet and exotic flavor, but it may be one of the most healthful foods available today. If we take a more detailed look at it, we will find that pineapple is valuable for

The juice has an anthelmintic effect;

  • it helps get rid of intestinal worms.

Let's look at how pineapple affects other conditions.

  • Pineapple is high in manganese, a mineral that is critical to development of strong bones and connective tissue.

  • A cup of fresh pineapple will give you nearly 75% of the recommended daily amount.

  • It is particularly helpful to older adults, whose bones tend to become brittle with age.

Bromelain, a proteolytic enzyme, is the key to pineapple's value. Proteolytic means "breaks down protein", which is why pineapple is known to be a digestive aid.

  • It helps the body digest proteins more efficiently.

  • Bromelain is also considered an effective anti-inflammatory.

  • Regular ingestion of at least one half cup of fresh pineapple daily is purported to relieve painful joints common to osteoarthritis.

  • It produces mild pain relief.

Vitamin C. Fresh pineapple is not only high in this vitamin, but because of the bromelain, it has the ability to reduce mucus in the throat. If you have a cold with a productive cough, add pineapple to your diet.

It is commonly used in Europe as a post-operative measure to cut mucus after certain sinus and throat operations.

Those individuals who eat fresh pineapple daily report fewer sinus problems related to allergies. In and of itself, pineapple has a very low risk for allergies.

Pineapple is also known to discourage blood clot development. This makes it a valuable dietary addition for frequent fliers and others who may be at risk for blood clots.

An old folk remedy for morning sickness is fresh pineapple juice. It really works! Fresh juice and some nuts first thing in the morning often makes a difference.

It's also good for a healthier mouth. The fresh juice discourages plaque growth.

UTI - D-Mannose & Probiotics

Advice from Dr. Joseph Mercola: (www.mercola.com)

Although the cranberry juice likely works I would not advise using it.
The juice has far too much sugar in it.
The main reason is that it, like all fruit juices, is high in fructose.

The fructose, like nearly all simple sugars, is metabolized quickly and disrupts insulin levels, which contributes to most chronic illness.

However, cranberry juice has another carbohydrate that this, and most all studies on this subject, tend to ignore.
I do very highly recommend the active ingredient found in cranberries called "D-mannose," which many independent D-Mannose studies have shown can be remarkably helpful to those experiencing or with a history of UTIs.

In the past, D-mannose has been difficult to obtain due to costs and manufacturing capabilities. The pure, high-quality form has recently become commercially available as a natural supplement and you can get it now in our store.

D-mannose actually adheres to the receptors on the lining of the bladder that attach to the bacteria. This forces the bacteria to slide right off and into the toilet. It is amazingly effective, but one must remember it is only a band-aid, but a far safer one than prophylactic antibiotic use or cranberry juice.

So I would advise taking Clear Tract D-Mannose once or twice a day as a far superior, more effective, and less damaging alternative to cranberry juice for the prevention of chronic UTIs.

D-Mannose may work for mild UTIs, but it is important to note that if the mannose, or cranberry juice is not working, you will want to consider the use of an antibiotic, as the infection can spread into your kidneys and cause some very serious damage if left untreated.
If you do use an antibiotic it is important to take a high quality, high potency probiotic to replace the beneficial bacteria that the antibiotic kills.
