Essential Oils are Antiviral - RSV Help.

Antibiotics are not Antiviral.  Essential Oils Are
adapted from article by Gloria Miller

RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus) made the headlines in today's Kansas City "Star." This illness, which can be very serious for babies and children, is said to be on the rise. Medical doctors treat it with antibiotics (Don't ask me why, because antibiotics don't do diddly-squat to get rid of a virus!) They also treat it with oxygen, which makes sense, because the little ones have a very hard time breathing once the inflammation gets going.

Therapeutic essential oils are ANTI-VIRAL. But medical doctors don't "hold" with that kind of wisdom. They are disturbed because there is no inoculation against RSV at this time.

Even if there was, viruses by their very nature are extremely elusive. This is because viruses mutate so quickly.

NEVERTHELESS.....God has already solved that problem! HOW? With plants that contain essential oils with naturally-occurring chemical constituents that are inherently anti-viral. Also, because the amount of precipitation, the temperature range, the soil, wind, and other environmental factors vary from year to year, each harvest of those plants differs. The difference is in the levels of those natural chemical constituents. In other words viruses cannot "out-mutate" a pure, therapeutic-grade essential oil with anti-viral capacity!

We can take advantage of that heavenly gift by diffusing essential oils in our homes, workplaces, churches, schools, etc. It's intelligent "health insurance" to do this! Plus, it's perfectly safe, smells great, and you can't inhale too much of them.

Young Living offers quite a variety of oils and proprietary Oil Blends that are anti-viral:
  • Melissa (has shown the strongest anti-viral activity);
  • Abundance;
  • bergamot;
  • Christmas Spirit;
  • all the citrus oils (which are among the least expensive);
  • clary sage;
  • Egyptian Gold;
  • Eucalyptus blue;
  • Eucalyptus globulus;
  • Eucalyptus polybractea (also a mucolytic);
  • Eucalyptus radiata;
  • Exodus II;
  • frankincense;
  • galbanum;
  • helichrysum;
  • hyssop;
  • Idaho tansy;
  • ImmuPower;
  • juniper;
  • Melaleuca alternifolia;
  • Melaleuca quinquinervia;
  • myrrh;
  • palmarosa;
  • palo santo;
  • peppermint;
  • pine;
  • Raven;
  • ravintsara;
  • R.C. (Respiratory Care);
  • Thieves; and
  • Three Wise Men -- all great to diffuse!
  • (Note: oregano, thyme, and clove are also highly anti-viral, but are better used applied to the body after being diluted with V-6 massage oil or extra virgin olive oil.)
How to get Essential Oils into the air so that you can breathe in their healing properties

Diffusing

Young Living has an array of diffusers from which to choose. If you have small children, the best one to get is the TheraPro model, Code number 4495.
It has no fragile glass chimney, you can set its timers to turn on and off, and adjust the outflow. It has a very stable base, and enough weight to keep it from being knocked over. Consider it as an investment in your family's health -- something that will last for years.
I have had some of the "original" diffusers, Code number 3660, (with the glass chimney) for over 10 years, and they are still operating. These are quality products.

Never heat essential oils. Heating oils causes them to "polymerize" and build long chains, preventing the molecules from floating out into the air, which is why ultrasonic or nebulizing diffusers are recommended.

Remember: as with so many other products, you get what you pay for. Other brands will likely have been cut, adulterated, or distilled at high temperatures, destroying the healing power. They will NOT be 100% pure, therapeutic grade! They will still smell good, and you are probably going to enjoy that, but the virus won't be affected.

As the Winter season continues (for us folks in the Nothern Hemisphere), other preventive measures you can take are to:
  • avoid all refined foods and carbonated beverages
  • eat plenty of fresh vegetables and fruit
  • Drink plenty of pure water -- the juice of half a fresh lemon in a tall glass of water every morning is a good idea, for several reasons.
  • Get plenty of rest, and -- for goodness sake --
  • bundle up if it's cold and/or windy! Even if you are only stepping out for a minute, it's especially important to keep your head and neck protected from the wind

And run your diffusers ALL the time, with your choice of oils or blends! Your surroundings will smell wonderful, and you'll be boosting your immune system while you destroy airborne microbes!
