Gallbaldder Wars

Did God make you with spare parts?
Why do you have a gallbladder anyway?

Surgeons are happy to remove your gallbladder at the slightest attack.

500,000 gallbladders are removed every year at a cost of $10,000 to $20,000. per procedure.

Probably the pot of gold under your liver (aka gallbladder) drives the increasing rate of cholecystectomies in this country. This is BIG BUSINESS, about $10 billion.

Surgeons use scare tactics and tell you if you don't have your gallbladder removed you could  die.  Do they tell you that .5% die from the removal of the gallbladder?

The gallbladder is a vital organ needed for proper digestion.

It is a storage tank for bile from the liver.  Bile breaks fat down into an absorbable fatty acid.

Bile, by the way, is made of cholesterol.  This is a key reason why you don't want your cholesterol levels to drop too low.  We need cholesterol for many functions in the body!  A low-fat diet makes the gallbladder stop working.

Perhaps you are one of the few that might need surgery, but before taking that drastic, life-altering step, please try a more natural and holistic approach!

Yo-yo dieting, eating low-fat, no-fat, high refined carb, high sugar, low fiber diets can bring on gallstones and gallbladder trouble.

Eating trans fats (restaurant foods, processed foods) and regular vegetable oils inflame the gallbladder.

Doctors will tell you that you need to cut your fat when you don't have a gallbladder.  You still NEED fat and your body still produces bile to digest fats, you just don't have the storage tank anymore, so there is a constant dribble of bile into the intestine.  (Taking ox bile and digestive enzymes with meals can halt those embarrassing problems that gallbladder-less people have).

Raw unrefined coconut oil is magical for the gallbladder and can be tolerated by people without gallbladders

Why?

It is unlike any other fat.  It is made of medium chain fatty acids so it doesn't even need bile for digestion.

Your diet has everything to do with your gallbladder health.

If you want to keep your organ in place then you really need to stop eating trans fats, sugar, and refined grain foods.

Yes, I'm telling you that you can live without bagels, waffles, cake, cookies, candy, brownies, pasta, sugary coffee drinks, chips, soda, juice and energy drinks.

Here are some other lifestyle factors that play a role according to scientific studies:

  • Overweight people have more gallbladder problems.
  • Lack of exercise!  Studies show that when people exercise 5 times a week they cut their risk.
  • Stop crazy diets and long fasts.  Skipping breakfast and fasting more than 14 hours will increase your risk of gallbladder problems.

Poor nutrition is almost always a factor.
  1. Eat 6-9 servings of vegetables every day, making a large portion raw.
  2. Decrease or eliminate coffee.
  3. Increase water, drinking 6-8 glasses of water each day.
  4. Increase fiber foods especially raw vegetables and fruits.
  5. Eat extra virgin olive oil and coconut oil!
  6. Exercise 5 times a week.
  7. Take quality Cod Liver Oil
  8. Uncover food sensitivity issues!

In a 1968 study 100% of people in the study with food sensitivities reversed their gallbladder disease when the offending foods were removed.  Doctors aren't telling patients that they might be able to avoid surgery by changing their diet and lifestyle.  Why not?  There are 10 billion reason$.

I offer an e-course that will help you find your food sensitivities and learn how to eat REAL food.

It is your body.  If you don't take care of it "they" will start removing your parts.

I think it is easier and more enjoyable to eat REAL food.

But I understand that the mere thought of living without McDonald's french fries, bread and cookies may be more than you can bear right now, just days before Christmas.

So, here's a tip for your next gallbladder attack.

  • Immediately mix a glass of water with 1 Tbs. of raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar and drink it down.  You'll be amazed at the quick relief.  This  is just a Band-Aid.  You'll really need to get on board with the whole REAL food eating plan and exercise.
  • Alternatively, you might even up the dose to 3Tbs of ACV and mix it in 8 oz apple juice.
-----------------------------------------------------------
The power of of ACV is due to the fermentation process and the the development of acetic acid, a wide variety of enzymes, probiotics, antioxidants, vitamins, minerals and more.

The next story is about Kim.

You'll want to read it since it has to do with gallbladders.

Kim's Story

Kim lost a lot of weight following Weight Watchers several years ago.  She only stayed at her goal weight for two weeks though because of the constant cravings.  She was eating fat-free, sugar-free, fake butter, and low calorie foods on that diet.  The weight came off but didn't stay off.

This was followed by surgery to remove her gallbladder.  After the surgery Kim was not able to eat fat and some foods were difficult to digest.

Kim thought she was eating healthy but felt hungry all the time.  She wasn't enjoying the Weight Watchers lifestyle of counting points and felt deprived.

Kim decided to come to the fall class, Weight & Wellness  thinking it was just a different version of Weight Watchers.

"Here I go again," she thought to herself, expecting more low-cal, low-fat restrictions and cravings.

Kim found out quickly that eating REAL food was completely different than the diets she had followed previously.

She eats three meals a day that include animal protein, vegetables and healthy fat.  Almost every day Kim blends a green smoothie with raw spinach, berries, Spirulina, whey protein and almond milk.

As she began to eat whole food, and not processed food, her body began to change.  Even though her gall bladder was removed three years ago, Kim is now eating 1 Tbs of healthy fat at each meal including extra virgin olive oil, butter, raw coconut oil and fish oil.

By eating protein and fat she feels satisfied and is not hungry between meals.

"I feel a million times better!" Kim said.  After two months she had lost sixteen pounds and the weight loss continues at a nice steady pace.  Her energy has increased and she is able to exercise too.

Kim felt that the class helped her understand how simple carbohydrates spike the blood sugar and drive food cravings.  "I haven't worried about counting points or calories.  I portion my food out and I write down what I eat.  I feel even keel.  The weight is coming off and I feel like I could eat this way forever."

What about you?  Are you ready to Get Better?

Milk Thistle, Holy Basil, Turmeric Detox Trio

Ancient wisdom meets modern science...

For many years now, researchers and manufacturers have been attempting to extract the vital compounds from herbs. Known as herbal extracts, these products make up the bulk of what you'll find in most health food stores and pharmacies.

The problem is sometimes chemical solvents and heats are being used to prepare the extracts, significantly altering the herbs. The BioXpress herbal fermentation process is different. It allows the active compounds to express their true biological nature. Active compounds are unlocked and NEW compounds are created during the fermentation process. These vitamins, probiotics, enzymes, organic acids and antioxidants are a further expression of the herb.

These herbs will not only balance pH levels in the body but will help improve your digestive function and metabolism. When consumed in a fermented form called Terrain, these herbs support a healthy immune system, blood sugar levels and cholesterol levels. You will notice increased energy and more balanced moods. Supports cellular health and integrity.

Fermentation creates beneficial metabolites such as organic acids and B vitamins.

Barbara's Story - IBS, Fibro, Depression,

Barbara

Last year at this time, Barbara weighed almost 183 pounds, suffered from constant fibromyalgia pain, IBS and limited mobility due to 3 degenerative discs in her lower spine. This is a story of triumph over personal challenges. Barbara has lost 30 pounds and is off all medication and says that she feels so much better - thanks to the power of God and his healing foods.

Barbara's health challenges started at birth and she entered the world with a bruised face and damaged eye after her mother's  long, difficult delivery. By age 7 she experienced the symptoms of IBS, stomach pain and cramps, vomiting and weight loss.  She was underweight and in the following years had her tonsils and appendix removed, suffered from anemia, peritonitis, bronchitis, walking pneumonia, earaches, and sore throats.
As Barbara grew from teenager to adult she suffered from chronic knee pain and back problems, and tried to control the pain with muscle relaxers, NSAIDs, Bextra and Celebrex, never getting the relief she wanted.

The stress of a failed marriage at age 22 steered Barbara into what she describes as a time of "heavy drinking and eating, an unrestrained lifestyle and continued IBS symptoms."

Several years later, Barbara remarried and happily started a family.  Although completely out of character she recalls having a frightening episode triggered by nothing more than her young child asking for a drink of water.

"I lost it!! I screamed, I cried. I had no control. I had completely crumbled."

Her husband, Tom, rushed home from work to find Barbara in a heap, crying hysterically in front of the refrigerator. These episodes continued over 8 years, and Barbara began to tie them to her cycle, only finding relief while pregnant.

Barbara, age 38, and Tom had a happy home with four healthy, happy beautiful little girls. They had a good church and school and lots of good friends and to share their joy.

Then, once again, Barbara's health seemed to take a downward turn when her youngest child was about a year and a half.
Doctors could not find the cause for her symptoms and after two years she remained feeling poorly, in pain and undiagnosed.

"I had pain, I slept all the time, I could not function to take care of my girls and I became severely depressed," Barbara recalled.

Friends and relatives had to help Tom care for Barbara and the children. "I did not want to live like this anymore. It wasn’t fair to Tom or to the girls. They needed a healthy wife and mother. That wasn’t me…and there was little hope I would ever get better since no doctor could say what was wrong with me. So I made a decision. And I was sure it was the right thing, the only thing, to do. I wanted a grown up to know what I was going to do, so they could keep my girls from finding me. So I called the pastor from our church and told him what I was going to do. He listened, and then made me promise to wait one hour until he could get someone to help me. He called me back and said he had made an appointment for me with a psychiatrist from our church and that someone would be there to pick me up and take me to the appointment."

Barbara was prescribed medication for severe depression and her psychiatrist wondered if she might have chronic fatigue syndrome. A friend suggested that she seek alternative medicine. The doctor recommended that Barbara take certain herbs, homeopathic remedies and supplements and told Barbara to discontinue eating sugar, salt, wheat, corn, dairy and caffeine, and begin consulting with a nutritionist.

A job change and move from NJ to WI brought new challenges and Barbara was unable to find a homeopathic doctor, but she found help from Mark, the owner of Polson's health food store in Antioch, IL. Although she lost weight, it wasn't soon before bad habits crept back in.

"I ate all the wrong things, was under unbelievable stress at work, and ended up in the hospital with my bulging discs causing me so much pain, I couldn’t walk," Barbara said.

She signed up with Weight Watchers. "I was appalled at all the chemicals they told you to eat. I knew better, but still didn’t have the initiative to do the right thing. Seven and a half years, and almost 40 pounds later, she was let go from her job.
"For the first 48 hours, I was devastated. But then realized that God would take care of us, and now it was time for me to take care of myself."

Barbara was unemployed, weighed more than she ever had, even while pregnant,  experienced brain fog and constant pain.

Barbara remembers, "My friends, Steve and Cindy Nelson started Facebooking me about Erin and the great results they were getting following her program. Steve even dropped off a green smoothie he had made so I could taste it. I knew then that this was the time, and I signed up to attend Erin’s class. It was the best thing I could have done for myself. By then I was on Tylenol with codeine every night for pain. I would wake up and take Omeprazole for my constant GERD. I was also on Paxil for depression and management of my fibro pain. I took Mucinex every day since I had read it was good for fibromyalgia. I also took two Aleve for pain during the day."

Within a few months on the plan Barbara had weaned herself off all medication and added necessary nutritional supplements to her real food eating plan.

Barbara includes green protein smoothies in her day and uses coconut milk, Garden of Life Raw Protein, Nutrex Spirulina, chia seeds, acerola  powder, dark green leafy vegetables and fresh berries. She enjoys eating avocado, organic meat, organic butter and goat cheese, and free range eggs 5-6 days a week. Barbara drinks organic tea, lots of water and an occasional glass of red wine. She cooks with unrefined coconut oil or MacNut oil and adds extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) to her salads and occasionally eats gluten free bread. Barbara enjoys fresh fruit and nuts for snacks and carries EVOO and coconut milk when she eats out.

Barbara lost 30 pounds, and says she feels so much better.

This is the plan she is determined to follow for the rest of her life.
"I still have about 20 more pounds to lose, still have some back pain (which nothing can be done about) and suffer from GERD when I overeat or eat something that does not agree with me. I am also gluten free, most of the time. I will occasionally eat whatever I feel like, and then am sorry most of the time, since it makes me feel so bad.  Everything I learned from my homeopathic doctor, Erin has reinforced, and also added more information to help me be the healthiest I can be. I have recommended her to many friends who have also been helped, and will continue to offer her wisdom to anyone who will listen. She is a Godsend, and I thank Him for her on a regular basis."
